If you're talking to someone without confirming anything, all the other person can do is come up with their own conclusions. And it's a good way to keep people from learning about you. You look like an asshole all the time, but it's a strategy.
You need to know about people so you can predict what they'll do. But it also might make you more sympathetic towards them. And of course, you can't say a damn thing about yourself.
